Did You Know?

Weekly educational/informational posts to expand your Johnston County legal knowledge.

Did You Know, Feb 9:
Did you know that if you get a traffic citation and pay for that citation, you are pleading guilty to the offense you were charged with? It doesn't make it go away and is definitely NOT the easy way out. By doing so, you may have just plead guilty to a misdemeanor, which could affect your job or your ability to get a job. It will show up on a background check which may impact a lot of things that you didn't even think of. Or, you may have plead guilty to a charge that would put 4 points on your record and could increase your auto insurance drastically. According to insure.com, the average car insurance increases for a speeding ticket for 16 to 29 miles per hour over the limit in every state. The analysis found that North Carolina was the big winner when it comes to insurance increases after a speeding ticket.

So, if you were issued a traffic citation in Johnston County, call me and I will speak with you, at no charge, about your options. The vast majority of citations can be reduced or even dismissed with some guidance.
